A high-efficiency cold-air intake system for the 2.0 Turbo engines used in the MKVI Golf R
The VWR RacingLine Cold-Air Intake System replaces the restrictive factory intake circuit with an efficient, high flow intake system that utilizes a reusable lifetime foam filter. Developed for use in the Volkswagen Racing Cup where removal of the factory intake is possible, the VWR system delivers astonishing gains as much as 9% greater at peak power than that of the standard intake system. In some cases, turbocharger spool dropped nearly 500 RPMs reducing turbo lag and creating lightning fast turbo response. Our tests have shown this intake to give the highest power and torque gains on the market.

CONSTRUCTION
The VWR Intake filter is constructed from a TriFoam™ triple-layer laminate of open-cell polyurethane foam, which gives an exceptionally high level of filtration to protect the engine from contaminants in the air down to well below 5 microns, whilst not greatly restricting airflow. This same filter material is used by F1 teams around the world due to its excellent filtration and airflow properties. In our experience, cheaper (and single-layer) foam filter materials are unable to deliver the same flow and filtration meaning a potentially very risky compromise for your engine.

The end result of our development is the exact Cold-Air Intake System that we use in our race cars, which also makes one of the most popular modifications for a road car.

AIRFLOW
Through greatly improving airflow to the engine and keeping intake temperatures as low as the ambient temperature, more power is produced, turbo lag is reduced and better fuel economy is achieved. These gains are maximized with ECU upgrades..

The results are quite significant. The system can deliver as much as 9% more effective peak power at the wheels of a standard car, and in some cases at 500rpm less revs in doing so.

Our testing has given increases of up to 30 wheel horsepower on a remapped stage 2+ Golf R versus the standard factory intake system.

DESIGN
The VWR RacingLine Intake System is a ram air style intake, meaning the opening is connected to the factory inlet which draws air directly from the leading edge of the front panel under the bonnet’s leading edge. Hot engine bay heat is deflected by the intake housing meaning intake air is only drawn from outside the engine bay.

The intake comes with a black-anodised aluminium housing with the VWR logo, containing the fully-enclosed high flow triple-layer cone filter. Each intake uses stainless steel or plated screws, nuts and washers throughout to fully enhance the appearance and durability of each kit – and greatly improve the appearance of your engine bay. The silicon hose connecting the turbocharger to the intake system features a stepped internal lip, resulting in a smooth transition into the turbocharger, and a continuous clamping force hose clamp allows for even clamping pressure around the entire hose. This intake will replace the entire factory engine cover, exposing the engine underneath.

SOUND QUALITY
The race bred nature of the intake system is noticeable instantly upon acceleration, giving a rich induction roar under acceleration. The black aluminum housing, with VWR logo, helps maintain sensible engine volume levels compared to the open element systems that are on the market. Be aware, however, that you will certainly hear the turbocharger compressing massive amounts of air as the engine is able to breathe freely for the first time. Releasing the throttle under boost will result in a classic turbocharger woosh as the factory diverter valve opens, releasing compressed air from the intercooler piping back to the uncompressed side of the turbocharger.
